This is certainly good news after a difficult year so far but, how exactly do you apply for the scheme and what is covered?
Unfortunately, these are difficult questions to answer right now. What we do know is that with the Green Homes Grant Scheme, Blackpool homeowners and landlords will be to apply in September 2020 using the Simple Energy Advice website.
However, the exact details in regard to the eligibility criteria have yet to be revealed. But, we know some information in regard to how the Green Homes Grant Scheme Blackpool will work. Under the scheme, you will need a quote from an approved installer detailing the work being done.
Again, what work will be covered by the scheme is unknown at this time. However, we do know that the majority of money will be capped at £5000 and that they can only cover two-thirds of the total cost of work.
If you are a low-income home owner or landlord then the voucher cap is increased to £10,000 and they can cover 100% of the cost. While we don’t yet know everything the Green Homes Grant Scheme Blackpool is still great news for landlords and homeowners. We’ll bring you more news about what it covers as it’s revealed.
Triple Glazing
There are many ways to make your home more energy-efficient like double glazing. Triple glazing takes this one step further by adding a third pane. In-between the panes of glass a pocket or air or gas that is used to create an airlock. This essentially creates a barrier that makes your home more energy-efficient. Overall, triple glazing is estimated to be 50% more energy-efficient than double glazing.
Energy Efficient Windows and Doors
Making your home more energy efficient is what the Green Homes Grant Scheme Blackpool is all about. This means many people will focus their efforts on their windows and doors. Old or damaged doors/ windows and frames can mean a loss of heat.
So, opting for glazing on windows or replacing frames for materials like wood or uPVC can help. You should also pay close attention to the energy efficiency rating on doors. These are measured on the A++ to E scale so, choosing doors with a higher rating will be a big help when it comes to improving energy efficiency. Please contact us.
Secondary Glazing
Secondary glazing is an alternative to double/ triple glazing, and it helps improve security while also making your home more energy-efficient. A secondary window is installed on the interior side of your home effectively giving you two windows. This helps improve heat retention but also makes your home more secure as well.
